Ruff Cycles is about cruiser eBikes and bicycles, conveying a specific and free riding experience. We believe that we are more than an ordinary brand, our connection to the products is extraordinary.
With this series of emailings, we want to highlight our riders and their bikes, as well as the inspiration behind their designs to the whole community.
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION REGARDING THE DESIGN AND THE COLORS?
Just a few years ago a Ruff frame set caught my attention and immediately I wanted to build a custom bike. I contacted my local Ruff distributor Kent from Chopperstyle Bicycles in South Australia and started with a Tango frame using a 100mm rear wheel and not long after completion I chopped it up and fitted a 130mm rear, sky blue colour was applied and worked well with the black components.
Next was my latest Smyinz build and decided to cut the entire bottom tube out and re-fabricate for a 130mm rear and 32 inch front wheel, violet purple and bronze was the choice for something a little different.
TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR BIKE?
I liked the low and long stance about the Smyinz frame and decided this build needed a 130mm rear end and a larger diameter front wheel so more fabricating was required to maintain the low bottom tube, it turned out amazing and so good to achieve more than 5mm of chain line clearance.
WHAT HURDLES DID YOU HAVE TO OVERCOME DURING CONSTRUCTION, OR WHERE THERE ANY?
Setting up the rear and bottom tube was challenging as I wanted to maintain similar standard lines without losing the bottom tube point.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU RIDE YOUR BIKE?
These bikes are ridden a few times per month mainly on club rides and more often throughout summer months.
NOW A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF
I ride most categories of bikes and definitely would say I’ve been bitten hard by the custom bug and enjoy rides with our club members at Chopperstyle BC.
