Ruff Cycles Customizer – Bicycle Brand Contest Winner 2016
This prestigious award is given out by the German Design Council (founded in 1953), the most respected competence centers for design-related topics in Germany. This award premiered this year and is acknowledgement from the German Design Council to the whole bicycle industry, along with all brands and suppliers.
Together with our partner ‘Die Taikonauten‘ from Berlin, we were able to convince the jury by demonstrating excellence in following aspects: Overall concept & Brand fit // Design quality in brand design // Product aesthetics & Originality // Level of innovation in brand design // Functionality & Usability // Longevity & Sustainability.

ABOUT THE CONTEST
The bicycle industry has long since been clearly defined and differentiated through brands and designs. It makes available to consumers an extensive chain of brand experiences.
Reason enough to create a dedicated award for it: In the form of the Bicycle Brand Contest the German Design Council bestows awards on outstanding product and communications design in the bicycle sector and offers companies a unique international platform.
The award addresses companies in the bicycle industry and their partners in the components, design and communications segments.
ABOUT THE INITIATOR
The German Design Council is one of the world’s leading competence centres for communication and brand management in the field of design. Its members currently include over 230 companies. The German Design Council was founded in 1953 on the initiative of the German Bundestag to strengthen design competence in the German industry. Its varied activities have just one aim, namely to communicate the sustainable increase in brand value through the strategic use of design.
EXPERT JUDGES IN ALL FIELDS
A competition with such diverse design aspects requires a jury that is international in composition and is made up of independent experts, a jury that tackles the challenge with enthusiasm. In 2016 it will thus be made up of representatives from the media, design and brand communication. The members are:
